When the Kite-Surf World Cup team wanted to refresh their brand identity with a new logo, they needed someone to translate this renewal into a consistent digital language. My role as a consultant was to create the visual foundation – from the color palette and typography to the index page – so the team could independently develop the website further.

The challenge was to develop a complete digital identity from a new logo. The logo already existed, but colors, typography, and UI elements still needed to be defined. My goal was to create a system that not only worked visually but also captured the essence of the sport and was easy for the team to apply.

Kite-surfing is dynamic and inseparably connected to the ocean – these characteristics needed to be reflected in the design. I decided on a large hero video on the index page, as moving images can best convey the energy and impressive nature of the sport. No static image could have captured visitors emotionally as immediately.
I developed the color palette with maritime, vibrant tones that represent both the proximity to water and the dynamism of the sport. The colors needed to feel alive without being intrusive – similar to the play of light on waves.
I kept the visual language deliberately organic and rounded – from rounded buttons to gently curved sections – to reflect the flowing movements of the ocean and the natural environment. Hard edges would have contradicted the character of the sport.
The index page I designed served as a template and foundation for the team to build out the rest of the site. It was a great opportunity to work on a project where the design decisions were so directly tied to the sport itself.
